Arenablast sandblasting gloves

At ARENA BLAST, we've been specialising in the design and manufacture of blast cabinets for over 40 years, and we're as committed as ever to protecting the operator by guaranteeing ergonomic and comfortable working conditions during sandblasting operations. That's why we've designed blasting gloves that are compatible only with our machines, combining safety, comfort, robustness and ease of maintenance.

There are 2 families of gloves for sandblasters:

  • Sleeves with gloves for cabs with manual sleeves

  • Pairs of protective gloves for mobile sandblasters

The sleeves with gloves for sandblasting cabinets are designed by our engineering teams and sewn in France for optimum quality. We have developed 3 gloves for sandblasting machines:

  • Gloveless cuffs with elastic to tighten the wrist are the most comfortable, as they allow the operator to wear his own sanding gloves

  • Sleeves with PVC gloves are most commonly used in standard, vacuum, non-intensive sandblasting operations

  • Sleeves with LATEX gloves, which offer greater resistance and are therefore chosen by operators working more intensively and for longer periods, for overpressure blasting for example

Why is it important to wear gloves when using a sandblaster ?

Sandblasting operations in a blast cabinet involve the projection of abrasives at high pressure, which generates a great deal of abrasion. Wearing blasting gloves is therefore essential to protect the operator's hands.

Wearing gloves when sandblasting allows you to hold the workpieces as well as the sandblasting gun or lance. Gloves for sandblasting machines provide good dexterity and individual protection for workers, both in cabs with sandblasting handles and with mobile free-blast sandblasters.

It is important to wear sandblasting gloves to prevent metal dust, abrasives and other waste generated by sandblasting from becoming embedded in the skin. Impact surface treatments are subject to regulations and the introduction of European safety standards by manufacturers, making it compulsory to wear gloves indicated by safety pictograms in factories.

What are the special features of sandblasting gloves ?

ARENA BLAST sandblasting gloves have been designed not only to protect the operator from injury caused by high-intensity abrasive blasting, but also to allow air into the cab. The denim sleeves, sewn onto latex, rubber or PVC gloves, are both permeable from the outside of the cab to the inside, allowing air to enter and ventilating the hands to reduce perspiration during sanding for greater comfort. But they are also watertight from the inside of the machine to the outside, so that all the dust generated by sanding does not escape from the hermetically sealed booth.

Allowing outside air to enter through the sandblasting gloves is important because it allows the machine to be properly vacuumed, which means better dust extraction and therefore better visibility for the operator.

Protection against the risk of injury is therefore provided by good gloves, which can sometimes be a constraint to the correct handling of parts or sandblasting lances. That's why ARENA BLAST has designed gloves for sandblasters in size L that combine good protection with the best possible dexterity.

Our tips for maintaining your sandblasting gloves and keeping them longer

The best way to maintain your sandblasting gloves is to check their condition at the end of each use. If you see any holes or perforations, you'll need to replace them with new ones. You should also check the state of wear of the seam between the sleeve and the glove. If the seam is worn, the sleeve and glove must be replaced to avoid any risk of injury.

To avoid premature wear of a sandblasting glove, it should not be sandblasted, and therefore the parts should not be held directly with the glove. Small parts should preferably be handled with tools that preserve the glove as much as possible.
