Stainless steel round shot is produced by atomising Cr Ni Stainless Steel. After various stages to obtain the round balls, a precise sieving is carried out. Its austenitic microstructure makes it highly durable, ideal for surface preparation and finishing. Its stainless properties make this product the perfect option where ferric pollution must be avoided. Suitable for free-blast and turbine blasting processes. Provides improved corrosion resistance and clean, bright finishes.

The chemical composition of this round shot corresponds to an austenitic stainless steel, which is a class of stainless steel commonly used because of its resistance to corrosion and its good formability.

DETAILS OF CHEMICAL COMPOSITION

  • Chromium (Cr): 16% - 20%.
  • Nickel (Ni): 7% - 9%.
  • Silicon (Si): 1.8% - 2.2
  • Manganese (Mn): 0.7% - 1.2
  • Carbon (C): 0.05% - 0.20

Stainless steel microbeads: for what uses?

Steel microbeads are a spherical abrasive designed for shot peening, shot peening for prestressing, pickling, descaling, deburring, derusting and surface finishing.

With this type of abrasive, the treatment of aluminium and stainless steel parts is recommended because it contains no traces of iron (and potentially rust).

Stainless steel round shot is widely used in industries such as aerospace, food, chemicals and medical.

The benefits of stainless steel microbeads

Stainless steel microbeads are used in compressed air sandblasting cabinets to prepare surfaces before applying a coating or paint. These round stainless steel shots are very useful for avoiding the incrustation of particles in metal interstices, which clearly limits the problems and risks of rust pitting on high-value-added products such as aircraft fuselages, prostheses in the biomedical sector or parts in the food industry.

Stainless steel bead blasting produces a beautiful satin finish on stainless steel and a slightly matt finish on aluminium. The bead-blasted metal parts, on the one hand, are sets to clean light scratches disappear, and their strength is increased by the prestressing effect. With stainless steel round shot, you're not scraping, stripping or tearing away material, you're hammering and stressing it. This increases its mechanical strength.

With which machines can stainless steel microbeads be used?

The high hardness of stainless steel beads means that they can be blasted at higher pressure than glass beads, but their density generally requires a pressure or overpressure blasting mechanism to obtain a conclusive result. Turbine shot-blasting machines are also used for stainless steel bead blasting, but they are often much more expensive and bulky installations.

Their high resistance means they can be used many times before they are destroyed or transformed into angular shot. ARENA BLAST sandblasting cabinets offer an innovative compact system for recycling and sorting on the PRO and EXPERT range of overpressure machines.

Automatic machines with robots or rotating baskets, with overpressure abrasive projection systems, will also enable this type of surface treatment to be carried out with complete autonomy and precision.
